Paul Voytinsky
(Uncle Pasha)

Your host is the famous Uncle Pasha.  A few years ago he was exiled from the polite society, and as his character continued to deteriorate he had to accept that voluntary self-imposed exile is the best option for both him and the rest of humanity. Thus a deserted village in one of the gloomiest parts of Russia. I'd be living here peacefully as a subsistence farmer if not my insistence on good coffee, real books, unlimited internet access, a hired lawnmower operator and, occasionally, interesting people. That's how this little hospitality/horse riding project got started.

Maria (Masha) Pavlovna

who was intended as my successor.....

Romashka

Born '98, no particular breed. I bought her in 2000 from local Gypsies for $1/kg for textbook-perfect conformation and gait. After years of faultless performance it seemed appropriate to dub her a noble Anglo-Aboriginal. Perfect for beginners, children, or those who do not seek adventures. Remarkable extended trot despite short legs, and she carries her load carefully.

Moonie

Suitable for sleeping and drinking

Romashka's daughter, born in April 2001. Fathered by a draft horse from the nearby kolkhoz. Grew into something fat and clumsy. Positively enjoys breaking through things. Steps on toes. Doesn't buck, doesn't kick, does not bite but learned getting rid of riders by non-aggressive methods.

Chicken and the cockerel

See the Food page >>

The cockerel was acquired after my alarm clock broke beyond repair.

Leeches

Their official place is on the dining table, where they help me save on the cost of food >> consumed by my guests. Once they've fulfilled their mission they get moved to the pond that supplied "technical" water.
